About Erik Swenk
Erik was born in College Park to Catholic parents, his father a professional police officer with the Orlando Police Department and his mother a professional school teacher with Orange County Public Schools. His military grandfather and grandmother built their house around Lake Silver in College Park in 1948, before Edgewater High School was established. His Aunt and Uncle moved to Heathrow in 1988 where they were founding members of the Heathrow community and where his Uncle practiced law representing municipalities and their police departments until his retirement in 2014.
Erik and his wife, Morgan, were married at Rollins College in 2009 after meeting in psychology class in 2000 during his sophomore and her freshman year. They both moved to Sabal Park in 2008 after she graduated from Florida State University School of Law and they bought their home in Wekiva Springs in 2009. They have one son, Brendan, who is 7 years old. They are also avid animal lovers and currently have a 14 year-old pitbull mix named Blasius, or Blaise for short, who is named after the patron saint of injured animals.
Erik maintains heavy involvement in both professional and community organizations. Affiliations in which he is involved include membership in the Seminole and Orange County Bar Associations; Greater Orlando Asian American Bar Association; Paul C. Perkins Bar Association; Seminole Florida Association for Women Lawyers; Seminole County Inn of Courts; Seminole County Community Leaders and Elected Officials; and the Seminole County, Sanford, and Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chambers of Commerce.
Service organizations in which he is involved include sitting on the Board of Directors for the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens, the Education Committee with the Seminole League of Women Voters, and the Board of Directors with West Seminole Baseball; he is an Organizer and Ambassador for Heroes Strong; and he is a member of the Lake Mary Rotary.
In his spare time, Erik is a Den Leader for his son’s Cub Scout Pack. This allows him time to engage with his son and other youth as a guide to the path of Eagle Rank just as he had accomplished when he was younger. Erik also plays for a local softball team at the Seminole Softball Complex in Longwood.
This community involvement is what is at Erik’s focal point when he discusses his passion to serve in the judiciary. Erik has the ability to impact the lives of many, and impact those lives in a way that transcends race, color, class, gender or other. Service to others is paramount and one of the best ways Erik can serve his community is through election to county court judge.
What a great example of Leadership, Support, and Advocation as Sheriff Dennis Lemma, of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, and Matt Morgan, Mayor of the City of Longwood, lead a panel moderated by Jeremy Kupsch, Executive Director of Teen Challenge Southeast Region Orlando, on the impact of addiction in our Communities. “You can’t arrest away addiction,” is something we regularly hear our sheriff exclaim. This is a philosophy of which Erik relates through his own past challenges with alcoholism and is something he intends to mirror in our county court. Of course, the impact of our law enforcement’s philosophy has limited impact if not reflected in the court where it is ultimately applied. This is what makes Erik Seminole County’s Natural Choice!

Family is one of the three pillars of Erik’s campaign for Seminole County Judge. As a father of his 8-year-old son, Brendan, Erik cherished the time with his son this past Father’s Day and hopes that all of the fathers and sons in our Communities had the opportunity to do the same.
